Molten Orbit | Aethera Youngling

Given form in copper-brown leather patterned with iridescent scales, this Aethera youngling holds a shifting sky across its wings. Turquoise, violet, rose, and pale gold emerge as the light changes, recalling distant stars reflected in molten metal. Broad, hand-shaped wings and a curling tail give this celestial companion a presence full of curiosity and growing confidence.

Approximate size: 4 inches from wingtip to wingtip; 4–4.5 inches from nose to tail.

Tiny Tale: A Little Farther

The youngling had spent several evenings flying between a low stone wall and the same three pale rocks. Beyond them, Aethera’s twilight spread across an unfamiliar stretch of ground, where slender grasses caught the light and trembled.

Tonight, it landed on the third rock and stayed there, its claws tucked tightly against the surface.

“You’ve been looking beyond that stone for days,” its companion said, settling beside the wall. “Is there something over there you want to see?”

The dragon stretched its neck toward a hollow where violet light gathered among the grasses.

“Then I’ll walk,” the companion said. “You can fly beside me.”

They moved slowly at first. The youngling made short flights, landing often to glance back at the familiar wall. At the hollow, it discovered tiny flowers folded beneath silver leaves, their centers glowing softly in the dusk.

It lowered its nose to one, then turned toward its companion with a delighted trill.

On the journey home, it flew ahead, stopping at every rock until the footsteps caught up.
